An Introduction to Gender Diversity (1/2-day)

This course is for anyone who wishes to increase their knowledge and understanding around gender diverse people.

The 1/2-day course will introduce participants to:

• sex , gender and gender dysphoria

• gender affirming language and terminology

• an introduction to historical, medical and legal context for gender diverse clients in the UK

• key therapeutic themes in relation to gender diverse clients

• best practice in relation to working with gender diverse clients in line with WPATH (The World Professional Association for Transgender Health) Standards of care for the Health of Transsexual, Transgender, and Gender Nonconforming People

• Complex case discussion x 2

The main aims of this event

• to gain understanding of gender affirming language and terminology when working alongside gender diverse clients

• to provide a basic introduction to historical, medical and legal context for gender diverse clients

• to gain awareness of the key therapeutic themes in relation to gender diverse clients

• to be able to demonstrate good practice in relation to working with gender diverse clients in line with WPATH standards of care V.8

• to increase confidence when working with gender diversity
